GLASS RECYCLING

Glass packaging, a favourite practice of most of the Food and Beverage Industries worldwide, is not only considered today as the most hygienic way of packaging, but has also been identified with the concept of aesthetics. At the same time, it is one of the most difficult waste to deconstruct in the environment.

In addition to the aesthetic pollution caused by the disposal of this material, its fragments may also end up in the food chain, causing harmful effects on animal organisms. Furthermore, its uncontrolled disposal in areas with dense vegetation is also considered to be responsible for causing fires.

It is clear, therefore, that the need to recycle it is becoming imperative.

Glass recycling, apart from the obvious savings for municipalities, individuals, companies etc. due to the disposal of the material in Landfills and Waste, also reduces energy consumption, as when glass crystals are used as raw material, the glass is melted at much lower temperatures. It is also worth noting that, due to the chemical stability of the material, there is no limit to the number of times it can be recycled.
